Continuing 18th Annual Images of the Virgin

This exhibit is still available for viewing through January 17. Put Saturday, January 9, 2010 on your calendar. This is the last reception for this exhibit. Come in from noon to 7 p.m. with refreshments being served from 5 - 7 p.m. Start the new year with this outstanding exhibit. Keep watching this blog throughout the year. We hope to keep a running dialogue of art events, exhibits and a place to chat about your art. Become a fan of our facebook page also. If you are an affiliate of the Galeria, get more involved this year. We need new ideas and enthusiasm. This gallery is for you. How many people can say they have shown their art in an historical adobe from the 1800's. Come by and see us at 115 Third Street, San Juan Bautista, right next to Jardine's Restaurant. 18th Annual Images of the Virgin

Come celebrate our 18th year of our Images of the Virgin art exhibit. It runs from November 20 through January 17, 2010. We are having our main artist reception on Saturday, December 12 from 5-7 p.m.

Our annual Virgin Conference is also on Saturday, December 12 from noon - 4 p.m. There are still seats available. Come on by the gallery at noon, tickets are $30 and enjoy an afternoon of lectures, discussions and lunch. Call 831-623-2783 if you have any questions.

Joy Severin

September 4 - 27 in the Main Gallery. Artist Reception, Saturday, Sept. 12 from 5 - 7 p.m.

Joy Severin was born in St. Louis. She is currently a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. She competed as a ballroom dancer at competitions throughout the United States. She attended Washington University of Fine Arts and is a graduate of California College of Arts and Crafts. Her love of color, people and nature shows up in her portraits of Indiginous Women now showing at Galeria Tonantzin.

Anne Lamborn - New Weavings 2009


Anne's new weavings are painted, dyed and stenciled warp with additional surface embellishments. Anne, an internatonal artist has shown her weavings and large silk panels in exhibits from New Zealand to California. Now living in Los Gatos, California, Anne serves as a Master Weaver and teacher at Camphill Communities California in Soquel. Her incredible service background in public art, Peace Corps in Guatemala and special projects in different countries shows in her designs and allows her collectors a glimpse into her understanding of the world in which she travels and loves.

Her exhibit runs from August 1 - 30, 2009. The artist reception will be held on Saturday, August 8 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Galeria Tonantzin, 115 Third Street, San Juan Bautista, CA 95045.

Daniel Dreifuss Photojournalist

We are featuring in our Garden Gallery, photojournalist, Daniel Dreifuss. His exhibit is entitled "A Year in Israel." Daniel's photographic eye has captured history in the making, politics and powerful faith in the Jewish community. A Passover reception has been scheduled for April 11 at Galeria Tonantzin from 5 - 7 p.m. Daniel is part of Galeria Tonantzin's expanded Center for Art and Humanities Events.

Best of the Best 2009 Affiliate Exhibition

The month of April features wonderful and various works of the artists of Galeria Tonantzin. The main gallery is loaded with watercolors, oil paintings, sculptures, photographs, jewelry, hand-painted scarves and much more. The Second Saturday Reception will be held on April 11. This exhibit will be showing through April 26.

Eleven Ways of Working

We've done out annual cleaning and updating. It's time for a new show. Come celebrate eleven artists from Fresno. Their show is entitled " Eleven Ways of Working: The Fresno Journal Project." The show includes wonderful ways of journaling spiritual paths, history paths and personal growth paths. The show opens February 6 and closes on March 1, 2009.

Artist reception is scheduled for Valentine's Day, February 14 from 5 - 7 p. m. Come that day and visit other art galleries during the day and come to our reception in the evening and meet many of these inspiring artists.
